Coastal
Voyager was built in New Zealand in 2001 to a special design based
on their Coastguard vessel. She is licensed to the UK Maritime Coastguard
Agency Category 4. The deep V hull (23 degree dead rise to be technical)
means that she gives an amazingly smooth ride even in a heavy sea.
The 12 wrap around seats hold you firmly in place and the individual
seat belts ensure you stay put! Naturally waterproofs and lifejackets
are also supplied. |
| All
the latest technology for communications and navigation has been incorporated.
This includes DSC VHF and a Carmin Chart Plotter so we always know
exactly where we are! The craft is only ever driven by an experienced
member of Southwold Lifeboat Crew under the direction of Marcus Gladwell
himself a very experienced boatman and responsible for all training
at Southwold Lifeboat. |

The
boat is powered by two Mercury Optimax 200 outboard engines. These
2500cc V6 engines can give breath taking performance at sea but are
also equally at home on a gentle river cruise when they have the added
benefit of being very quiet. These engines have high pressure fuel
injection and are the quietest and most environmentally friendly two-stroke
engines on the market and meet all the toughest emmission regulations
up to at least 2006. |
